As so many other Hungarian composers, during the years of the socialist realism Ligeti could adapt himself to composing folk-settings meanwhile keeping his new music for his drawer. His research in folk music continued in his further interest in the etnomusic of other peoples. Later in his ouvre the national roots kept coming forth through hidden allusions, witnessing Ligeti’s personal and emotional attachment to his native country.
