Fokko OLDENHUIS (NL)

Fokko Oldenhuis studied choral conducting at the Conservatories of Groningen and Amsterdam in the Netherlands and graduated with honour in 1998. Since 2008 he teaches choral conducting at the Conservatory of Utrecht and at the International Kurt Thomas Course in Utrecht. He is artistic director of Neon, Hollands Vocaal Ensemble, Brabants Kamerkoor, Utrechtse Studenten Cantorij and Attacca Ensemble. He performs with these ensembles a broad repertoire from early music to premieres of newly composed works.
In 2008 he co-founded the Attacca Ensemble, a choir specialised in performing minimal music. With this choir he performed several works of Philip Glass such as highlights from the opera Einstein on the Beach, the movie Koyaanisqatsi, Madrigal Opera, Another Look at Harmony IV and the Hydrogen Jukebox. In 2014 he worked together with Philip Glass during a concert in the Melkweg in Amsterdam. With Neon Fokko Oldenhuis performs the most newly composed works by young composers in partnership with the Conservatories of Amsterdam and Utrecht.
